Leading Schoolwide SEL

This short online course help people understand and advocate what SEL is and why it is important. 

1. 내 과거 경험 돌아보기
   - 머리에 떠오른 사람 기억하며 어떤 사람인지, 어떻게 그 사람을 느끼는지 공유, 다른 사람 경험을 들으며 공통점 찾기
2. 현재 어떻게 내 환경을 만들고 싶은지
   - 너와 함께 있을 때 어린 학생들은 무엇을 느꼈으면 좋겠나?
   - 그들이 이렇게 느낀다면 너는 무엇을 보고 듣는가?
   - 그들이 이런 느낌을 얻기 위한 환경과 관계는 무엇인가?
   - 이런 종류의 환경을 촉진하거나 관계를 강화시키고 도울 수 있도록 하는 스킬은 무엇인가?
3. SEL (social and emotional learning)은 무엇인가? (그림 1)
   - Social and emotional learning (SEL) is a lifelong process of developing skills that help us to be successful in school and all parts of our lives, such as communicating effectively, building relationships, working through challenges, and making decisions that benefit ourselves and others. The term is also often used to describe how we help students learn and practice these skills in supportive environments.
   - 다섯 가지 스킬 또는 역량: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision-Making
   - SE 발달을 위한 네 가지 환경: Classroom, School, Families and caregivers, Community
4. 왜 SEL에 집중해야 하는가?
   - SEL은 항상 일어나는 일로서, 의도적으로 가르치며 향상시킬 필요가 있음.
   - Benefits of SEL: 긍정적이고 신뢰있는 관계 형성, 학업 성적 향상을 이끎, 스트레스 불안 우울을 관리하는 능력 향상, 그들 다른 사람들 그리고 학교에 대한 태도 향상
   - Equitable 교육 환경과 결과와 연결됨. (그림2)
   - 사실과 오해: SEL은 학업에 방해되는 것이 아니라 도움을 줌. SEL은 테라피가 아니라 모두를 위한 것임. 어떤 특정한 관점을 가지기 바라는 것이 아니라 다른 관점을 존중하는 법을 돕는 것. SEL은 one-size-fits-all이 아니라 다양한 local decision making이 들어가는 다양한 프로그램이 필요함.
5. SEL skills을 발휘하는 사례에 대한 제시와 구체적 표현들을 자신의 행동과 비교하는 질문지. 각 SEL 역량에 가지 요소
6. 역할에 따른 시나리오 제시. 각 시나리오에 대한 응답이 SEL을 model하는지 아닌지.
7. 이번 달에 SEL을 사용할 수 있는 상황을 역량별로 묘사하고 어떻게 말하고 그게 어떻게 성공적으로 이끌 것인지 작성
8. 교육을 듣고 난 후 세 가지 토론 자료 제공 + 10가지 학교단위 SEL을 위한 indicator와 관련 글과 영상 제공 (그림 3)
   - Group debriefing discussion
   - Circle discussion
   - Problem-solving discussion
